0xc000000e error after erasing hdd with Active Eraser

After erasing hard disk data using Active Disk utility from floppy disk (all disk sectors being overwritten with 0x) and giving it a try to reboot from Windows 7 DVD (Home Premium 64-bit) system flashes below error:

error 0xc000000e boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible

I would need any help available to restore MBR, create partition (both primary and secondary) and format to NTFS file system.

I do appreciate any incoming suggestions.

Is there a boot cd kinda similar to what EasyBCD can do?

Hi folks,

I had a hard drive failure last week that all my OS were on, replaced the drive, and then installed a copy of windows 7. I then used my acronis backups of windows and of course easyBCD to complete the process, drive partioned with windows 7 on both partitions.

A few questions have crossed my mind.

1 Is there a better boot dvd other than the windows repair one if I ever have the problem that windows won't start in future or a boot menu won't appear at computer startup?

2 I have used easyBCD repair option to copy the boot menu to my other data drive in case I loose the main OS drive boot menu, as I understand it I could change the drive in the bios and boot from the data drive instead, am I correct in that?

3 Am I right in thinking that say I amend the boot menu in easyBCD that it will overwrite the previous boot menu that is on the active disk so as not to cause confusion?

Many thanks for your help.
Joe

EzBcd Accessability

Hello all, glad to be here. I have started using ezbcd again (the beta version) and am wondering if there is any chance some accessability issues with the program could be fixed? I have to use a screen reader (jaws) and navigate round the program using the keyboard. Unfortunately some buttons don't have spoken labels, the tools menu has several buttons and all my screen reader says is "button" for every button and that makes it difficult to work out what they do. it would be useful if there could be some hotkeys as well.

Does EasyBCD support UEFI yet? Even in beta build?

Hi guys. I'm guessing the answer is no at this point still. I just downloaded 2.2 and it looks like it deleted my boot menu. Went from pretty Windows 8 boot menu to old school B&W boot menu. What exactly is happening there? I'm guessing this is a UEFI problem but I wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Can't boot Linux from Windows 8.1 boot menu

After installing Linux I used EasyBCD 2.2 to add Linux entry to Windows 8.1 Boot menu.

I do a Windows 8.1 boot, select Linux, and then I get a message indicating OS couldn't be loaded because required files missing or contain errors.
Shown: /NST/AutoNeoGrub0.mbr
A status code is also shown: 0xc0000076
Didn't see anything that fit in the FAQs. Can you help?

Notes:
1 From a Google search... "STATUS_INVALID_SUB_AUTHORITY 0xc0000076 Indicates the sub-authority value is invalid for the particular use"
2 Although not apparently relevant, I did remove the tick from "turn on fast startup" for the power button.

Dual Booting Windows 8.1 64 Bit & Windows 7 32 Bit.

Hi all. I’m new to this forum & am looking for advice on dual booting. I have recently purchased a Lenovo G500 laptop which has Windows 8.1 64 bit preinstalled. I need to run some software that won’t run on a 64 bit system. My question is this; is it possible, with or without EasyBCD, to install & dual boot a copy of Windows 7 Pro 32 bit on top of the preinstalled Windows 8.1 64 bit? I've tried this by disabling both the fast startup and UEFI secure boot in the Windows 8.1 setup. The installation of Windows 7 gets so far, but then I get the message, ‘windows cannot be installed to this disk the selected disk is of the gpt partition style’. Any help or advice regarding this would be very welcome.

Not all restored OS images will boot..

Hello,

I have a triple boot machine with XPired, Win 7 and Ubuntu, Easy BCD 2.2 is on XPired. XP was the first one on this HD. All OS's boot and run fine as they are. Here's the problem.

When I make an Acronis image of the drive and MBR, and put it on another HD as a 'bare metal restore' the only one that will boot is XP. This puzzles me since I am imaging the MBR along with everything else. I can use the 7 install disc to make 7 boot up, and if I use the Boot Recovery Disc for Linux. I can make Ubuntu boot as well, but that disc puts Grub in charge of booting everything and i don't like that. Really, Grub is on the same partition as Ubuntu. I didn't want it to be in charge of booting the MS OS's. Plus if Grub fails I can still boot to 7.

I understand why 7 won't boot on it's own, all it's boot info was written into XP. I can live with restoring 7 using the install disc, it beats re-installing all my programs again.

Something tells me that EasyBCD is preventing the 'imaged' systems from booting, I know that of the 3 boot entries in EasyBCD the 3rd on for Ubuntu looks odd. Why if I am imaging the whole drive and the MBR only one OS will boot. The original one boots all 3 systems just fine but the imaged one won't. Makes no sense to me. Should I re-install EasyBCD into XP and let it discover the other two OS's?

Thanks in advance to all!

Windows Boot Manager has usurped control (WBM)

I have been dual-booting Windows 8.1 and Linux for some time now on an aging Lenovo desktop mobo Ver.1. WBM never worked correctly -- so I searched around a long time ago and found NeoSmart's Easy BCD. I love it and it has worked for me perfectly on this aging computer. I was changing my Linux distro yesterday, and now I discover upon boot that WBM has returned and my Easy BCD boot screen is nowhere to be seen! :lup:

This I do not like! I want my Easy BCD back in control!

How do I achieve this? (Disable WBM?) Please advise. Thanks.

EasyBCD won't install when using Hiren's BootCD

I've lost regular access to my computer, so I'm using Hiren's BootCD 15.2 to get it running and try to figure out the booting problem. When I try to install EasyBCD 2.02, it looks like the installation installs .netFramework 2.0, but then it stops with an error message that it can't install .netFramework 3.5 on the version of WinXP that Hiren's uses...and suggests updating it to sp2 .

Since I don't think I can update this bootdisk, I wonder if you've run into this problem and know of a work-a-round. Or is there a different boot CD that is known to work with EasyBCD? Can you let me know if there's a way to do this.

Thanks... John

ps...if this is a duplicate New Thread, it's because I haven't seen the original one appear in the forum and on the chance that I didn't complete it the first time, I'm posting again.

F8 "Repair your computer" does not show in boot menu

After booting using Easy recovery (on usb) and running Automated Repair, when I boot using F8 the boot menu no longer has "Repair your computer".
I want to access this item as it has allowed me to run cmd prompt which I can then use to run backups using Robycopy.
How can I run cmd prompt?
I did try to use the same regular commands in Launch Command Line but it didn't recognize the commands.

I loaded bcd several months ago to multiboot win7 64bit win7 32bit and xp. each os would comeup on boot screen and boot ok. Even worked last week. Now, today when i select xp from the boot menu, (after the dell logo 1str appears), the screen goes blank for a few seconds and then it returns to the dell logo and boot selection menu. I booted to win7 64bit and I also tried to add this install of xp as a new os in bcd and it does the same thing. I am not sure why this changed or what is happening top cause this. No new installs of win7 os.

thanks for the assistance.
