Cannot create Mac OSX Entry

$

Hello, I would like to dual-boot my computer and was hoping I could use your tool. I have a Hackintosh/Windows 8 configuration (each installed on its own SATA Drive). I can boot each operating system just fine if I use my F8 key during boot which allows me to choose a boot device.

My hope is to be able to install a boot loader and be able to have it prompt which OS I would like to run, or default to my last choice after a timeout. I was reading the EasyBCD manual and there was a section which related to dual-booting MaxOSX with Windows. After reading the manual I had planned on trying to add an entry in the Windows Bootloader (which is on my 2nd SATA drive where Windows 8.1 is installed) but when I accessed the Add Entry screen I do not have a tab named "Mac". I have attached a screenshot. Is this by design or would something prevent me from seeing the Mac tab?

Thanks in advance - Bill H.

Conflict between systems?

Hi,

I have been using Easy Bcd for sometime now and it has served me well I know what a powerful tool this can be so find it very useful for my quad multi boot system.

The last o/s added was Centos 6 which I installed on the same drive in a later partition and Esy Bcd with using the NeoGrub.
This was for me to learn some basic Unix stuff as I am a complete newbie when in comes to Linux.

All has been working well until I did some file updates on the Centos (Linux) and carelessly allowed it to install an update to Grub and after allowed it to scan all the drives which then

marked the two windows drives as LVM which my backup program (Paragon) does not support so I cannot access the partition where the backups are stored, so am in a pickle.

Is there a way I can reverse this to restore the drives as windows drives without too much hassle?

Dual boot : windows 8 / LinuxMint

Hello,
I had a dual boot windows 7 / Linux Mint. But since I Updated windows 7 windows 8 I am unable to boot linux. So I tried to fix my boot with EasyBCD 2.2, so I've setup neogrub but I don't know how to set it. I tried this :

title Mint
find --set-root /boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-19-generic
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-3.8.0-19-generic ro root=/dev/sda5 #I don't know what to put here.
initrd /boot/initrd.img-3.8.0-19-generic

I tried root=/dev/sda5 because linux is on the partition 5.
I have a 750 GB hard drive with windows, linux, and a partition for my files.

If anyone knows how to help me, I would be grateful to him.
thanks.

Is there a standalone version of EasyBCD that can run from a bootable CD/DVD/USB? If so how can I get it?

Thanks

EasyRE unable to repair 0x0000225 Boot Manager Error

Hi NeoSmart team,

Happy New Year!

I'm in a bit of a pickle at the moment. I had spent 2 days scouring internet forums to help resolve a 0x0000225 Boot Manager Error. I decided to try EasyRe after seeing the good reviews, but unfortunately it has not helped. Fortunately I have access to an older very slow laptop that I can use in the meantime.

I have Windows 7 Home Premium on a Samsung NP530U4BI-A03UK laptop. I was trying to update to Windows 7 Ultimate when the problem started. My Windows Boot Manager is corrupted and the Recovery disks/Full Windows 7 Installation DVD do not work.

When I put my Samsung Windows 7 Home Premium recovery CD or my full Windows 7 Ultimate CD (which I was trying to upgrade to) I get to the "Where do you want to install windows?" and when I click the allocated space it says" the selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI systems, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks."

I have burned 3 copies (different CD-R brands and tried normal and low speed burning) of the Windows 7 home EasyRe iso and none are working. When I put the CD in - I hear it running in the drive but it only produces a black screen.

I bought the Windows 7 Home version of EasyRe. Did I get the wrong version? If I did can I get a refund and then purchase the Windows 7 Professional Edition which your website says works with partitions?

Many thanks for the anticipated help. Please see attached pictures.

Tony

Booting different partitions on same disk

Hello everyone and thank you for accepting me on your forum. Forgive my mistakes and my english, but my mother tongue is french so I will do my best to make myself understandable!!
I have been using EasyBCD for a while now using it on my laptop with 2 windows 7 operating systems on 2 different disks. All has been working fine. I know tried to install a third Windows 7 operating system (2 on the same disk and 1 on the other disk), I modified the EasyBCD menu accordingly, but each time I boot the first installed operatin system on disk 0, it boots OK, but when I boot the second operating system on disk 0, the first one boots; when I boot the operating system on disk 1, it boots OK. I know I must be doing something wrong, but I haven(t found a solution to my problem. Can someone help me. Thank you and have a Happy New Year!!!!

I have the latest version of EasyBCD 2.2. With Windows 7 and two OS in the boot menu I can boot into either OS no problem.
However, Skip the menu does not work (I always get two options) and I cannot change the wait time from 30 secs to zero as it is greyed out.
Any ideas please? I have searched through the posts but none has given me the answer.
Thanks

iReboot Right Click Menu Keeps Disappearing

Apologies if this is a problem which has already been discussed and solved but I've tried a few searches and couldn't find anything along those lines.....................

I have been running iReboot 1.1.1 for ages now (well over a year) and whilst I love it, it frequently annoys me by not responding to me right clicking on the icon in the system tray. I run Win 7 64 bit on two drives, one on a 1TB drive and the other on a separate 2TB drive. Each drive has two partitions, one for the Win 7 OS and one for data etc.. The 1TB drive is my main drive and the 2TB has some backups of the 1TB plus is just a fallback should anything go wrong with the 1TB. I'll often go weeks or even a month or more without booting to the 2TB drive so the 1TB is my default with only 5 secs for me to choose the 2TB if required.

Lately I've been doing a lot more cross booting, changing from Win 7 64 bit on one drive to Win 7 64 on the other and have become frustrated by nothing happening when I right click on the iReboot tray icon. If I kill it using Task Manager then relaunch it it invariably (always??) makes no difference. If I completely uninstall using Control Panel and then reinstall it works for a while but sooner or later reverts to not working again.

I upgraded to Easy BCD 2.2 yesterday in the hope something there would rectify the problem, but it hasn’t. I’ve also run Easy BCD repair but that didn’t seem to help. It’s probably something dumb I’ve done or am doing but it’s very frustrating, so would greatly appreciate some advice from more experienced users please.

Thanks,
Gary

I have Windows 8 and Windows XP in dual boot, Windows 8 on a SSD and XP on a HDD and another HDD with nothing on it. Everything was going fine until the power went out, now I can only boot from Windows 8. Have posted images of EasyBCD and Windows Boot Manager page. I have Windows 8 instead of Windows 7. Had a hard time posting images, this was the only way I could post them.

Tech changes in 2014.

Hey guys, how is it going?

In past few years, many things changed. Many people died or left the company so i thought i could write my perspective.

As you all know, Steve Jobs died in 2011. To me it feels like yesterday. Last products he was involved in were iPad 2 and iPhone 4 and 4s. That's it, the end for mr. Jobs. I don't know about you but i can totally see the difference in Apple without him. I believe the tech edge has moved from Apple to Google, cause Google knows that Google Glass is the future. Google knows that the next big thing is going to be getting Google as close to human eyes as possible.

In the next 5-10 years, we'll not only have glasses what let us search the internet and look up stuff, but it will be on our eye itself.

John Carmack heft the company he had founded (id software) to work on virtual reality gaming. As you may know, Carmack is the most advanced game engine programmer in the world. His whole life he has been doing stuff with his engine that nobody ever could, from side-scrolling on PC to inventing FPS genre, to making a game that can run on 60 frames per second on consols (PS3, xbox360) while all other run on 30 frames per second. Yes, that guy who was the first to move the limits in visual representation has stopped doing what he did and went to develop technology for virtual reality. http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/...-rift-headset/

In 5-10 years, there will be something amazing going on with all this stuff. And it's going to look pretty.

But that's in the future. What about now? Do you guys have any ideas for a tech start-up? It seems like everyone is doing that, or at least in my circles. I see many kids getting million of dollars to start their company. That's so exciting. Anyone has a billion dollar idea to share? :)

Re-writing my MBR made system unbootable

I used to have a working multi-boot system but in an attempt to fix a problem (I can’t recall what it was) I rewrote the MBR and the entire system became unbootable.

The Windows 8 version of EasyRE rescued the Windows 8 partition. When I tried to rescue the Windows 7 partition with the Win 7 version of EasyRE the whole system became unbootable again.

The Win 8 partition was again rescued by EasyRE but only that partition became bootable.

At the moment I have only two partitions on the boot menu and the Win 8 one is working well. If I select the Win 7 partition it boots to the splash screen, “Starting Windows”, then displays the Blue Screen of Death with the error code 0x0000007B.

The system also has two other partitions with Windows XP and a second Windows 8 but I am not attempting to deal with those at this time.

Any suggestions for restoring the Win 7 partition will be very welcome.

how can i get invoice from you ?

How do I remove dual boot menu from Windows 8.1

$

I had Windows 7 on an SSD and when Windows 8 preview came out I put it on another SSD and used EasyBCD ( an older version ) to make a dual boot menu.

During the intervening time, I have updated to Windows 8 then to Windows 8.1.

I keep the Windows 7 SSD completely disconnected any more and haven't used Windows 7 for months now.

I would like to remove the dual boot menu and boot directly into Windows 8.1

What do I need to do?

I have installed the latest Easy BCD ver 2.2.0.182 but I'm leery of removing entries without specific instructions on what to remove when and how :)

Thanks

how can I restore win xp hard drive to pre easy BCD state

Hi, Have been happily using easy BCD to boot separate hard drives into xp and win7. Now have removed xp hard drive and placed into another computer but attempts to boot keep failing .Have tried 'fiddling ' with Easy BCD entries in numerous ways, have tried deleting entries as well to no avail. I assume some script remains behind. SO !!! I would like to TOTALLY remove ALL traces of BCD from that hard drive but not sure what entries /files are relavent and safe to do so.Cannot do System Restore as it does not go back far enough in time. Can you advise please

EasyBCD On Second OS (Partition) - Need It On First OS (Partition)

$

I created a dual-boot system (Windows 7-32Bit first on first partition, then Windows XP Pro-32Bit
on second partition, all on same only drive). However, when I was done, I could not boot to my first OS (Win7),
so I installed EasyBCD on the XP and that's what I have been using.

Personally, I would rather have the EasyBCD in the first installation (Win7) which is also in the first partition.
Would it be possible to install EasyBCD in the first partition (Win7) so this one will be my only boot manager
and then remove the existing one currently on second partition (WinXP)? I plan on installing a third
Operating System (OS).

Currently, all works fine including the EasyBCD.

Thanks.

How to clean up your Windows Live Mail Storage folders.

$

You might think your WLM folders are neatly and logically organized and that you don't have a problem. Indeed I wouldn't advocate reorganizing them unnecessarily, but if you've ever exported your emails from one PC to another, or even from one OS to another on the same PC, they're probably a lot messier than you realize.
Again, no problem. No need to clean-up if everything's working OK. WML can take a lot of export/import action before it breaks.
The problem is this.
Your folder structure as seen from the email client looks like this
email.PNG

but underneath, unseen unless you browse around with explorer, it really looks something like this- (and this is just a tiny fraction of the tree)
folders.PNG

You can see the potential problem when you recall that Windows filenames have a maximum length of 259 characters from C:\ through \ the\ folder \ list \ all \ the \ way \ to \ the \ eventual \ filename.eml
Eventually some of your emails will become unaddressable and you will be presented with a message telling you that a particular letter is unreadable or even won't delete, and you'll suspect that your files have become corrupted, but don't panic! everything's OK as long as you don't do anything hasty.

First golden rule

Don't touch the folder structure or naming with anything except the WLM right click dialogue.

wlmdialog.PNG

If you rename, delete or insert a new folder from explorer, stuff will just mysteriously disappear into a wormhole in cyberspace.
It will still appear to be in your folder structure. WLM will list it along with the date, the sender etc, but upon attempting to open it, you'll get an error message and likely never see it again unless you have backups.

Perversely, the next rule is

Don't move your eml files using WLM's export/import.

The main reason for the horrendous bird's nest folder stucture under the calm surface of the WLM GUI is the way that import is implemented. You can see from the above screenshot how import creates a new level instead of simply copying eml files into existing folders.
I was forced to research this after 13 years of email archive from Windows 95 through ME, XP, Vista, 7, 8, and back to 7 on four different PCs created a nightmare structure which eventually "broke" WML. Luckily copious backups gave me a resource to experiment with, and days of painful and laborious trial and error led me to the two golden rules quoted above.

Step 1
If you're cleaning up an existing installation, copy the entire Windows Live Mail archive (located at WLM > Options > Advanced > Maintenance > Store Folder) to a safe backup location (preferably on a different HDD to prevent step 4's "copy" from defaulting to "move" which will gradually delete your backup - safer to keep it totally intact till you're completely happy, just in case you have finger trouble and mess things up. This way you can always start again with no consequences.) and take the opportunity to redefine the location to a convenient place if you haven't already done so. (decline any offer to move everything to the new location. You want to start clean)
2
Using WLM right click, create the empty storage folder stucture if this is a new install. Delete the entire old structure and create a new one (even if it's exactly the same) for an existing install. You want to end up with a pristine simple empty set of folders, free of all unintended nesting. Close WLM.
3
Open two Explorer windows and aero-snap them side by side. (Windows Key with left/right arrow) Navigate to your new clean Storage Folder structure on one side, and to the copy of the old one on the other.
4
Start clicking down the old folder structure branch by branch till you reach a folder with one of the names from the list you originally created, containing a number of randomly named .eml files. Select them all (Ctrl a). Drag them all across to the other Explorer window into the newly created folder of the same name. Work your way steadily down the entire tree copying every block of .eml files from their scattered locations, consolidating them all into the appropriate single folder in the other window. The .eml files are given random names so there shouldn't be any conficts, but if there are, just tell copy to rename all examples.
5
When you've finished copying everything from the Storage Folders sub folders tree structure, start WLM again and click into your new Storage Folders. You will most likely find that you have multiple copies of lots of your email archive.
One finger on the down arrow and one on the delete key, work your way down deleting all the duplicates leaving just one copy of each email.
Trust me, it's far quicker to copy multiple instances from the original scattered structure, and delete them all in WLM, than to try identifying them individually before copying. (The random names assigned make it enormously time consuming to try that approach).
6
There you have it !
An archive that looks exactly the same as before from the WLM GUI, but underneath is as neat and tidy as you always mistakenly imagined it was.
Take the opportunity to make a backup copy of your neat Storage Folder structure and contents, and then you can delete the original messy copy you made in step 1, get back the wasted space and enjoy many more years of WLM without a risk of breaking it.

Did EasyBCD ruin my Samsung Laptop?

$

I downloaded the program and found my way to what I believe was a list of boot options. The box named Windows 8 was checked and I used the "move up" button and put it at the top of the list, my computer had just downloaded some updates and a window opened stating I needed to restart the computer, I selected ok and closed out all open programs and restarted. Problem is it never restarted, if I turned it on it would go to the initial startup screen (samsung press f2 for set up ect) then it shuts right back off. I am unable to get into the bios, I am ONLY able to boot the computer from a live USB by pressing and holding down F9. However it will only run linux, if I try a fresh windows install then it installs and shuts down but again will only turn on by USB holding F9 therefore sending it back into the same Windows install cycle. I bought the windows 8 recovery disk from neosmart and all that does is give me a grub rescue command screen. I booted into Ubuntu and opened EasyBCD and the only item listed in the SAME boot options list was Windows 8. ANY help at all would be great, I work from home and live on that laptop, soooo sending it out is my last option and its upsetting that im unable to use my $1400 laptop, had to buy a new one for temporary use and i also and out the money spent on EasyRE....
Thanks!

Steps to delete dual boot XP/W7 so both will boot separately

$

Hello all,
A few years ago when I upgraded to W7 from XP I setup a dual boot so I could slowly migrate to the new system. It's been a while since I've needed to boot XP and would like to remove the drive from the computer but keep in tact in case I need to boot it later. Both were retail versions. I think XP is a Pro 32bit Upgrade disk and W7 is a Full Pro 64bit.

The first thing I tried in preparation was removing the XP drive which results in W7 not booting. And that's where I stopped until I learn more. I can't actually remember the order in which I installed the dual boot but W7 has BCD installed on it which leaves me to believe I did a clean install of W7, loaded BCD and then introduced the old XP drive to the system. Both OS's are on separate SSD's. XP is using the motherboard SATAII while the newer W7 SSD is connected via an SATAIII card.

What is the proper process that will allow me to remove the dual boot and be able to boot either drive alone? Thanks

EasyBCD Help with Booting Windows 8.1 & Windows 7 on saperate HDD

Hi I have used EasyBCD before on Windows 8 hard drive and Windows 7 hard drive. All boot up fine before and showed both drives to pick. Now I'm not to sure on what version it was but pretty sure it was the same version. Now i had a problem on my Windows 7 x64 HDD drive and i had to reformat. Now ever since i tried to load both of them they always make a system reserved drive for both. I never had that before was only on 2 Drive to pick and no system reserve before i reformatted. I have lost all data too through this mess because i tried deleting the drive and redoing it but just showed the black screen. So i had to do those cammands to fix it but even if i added a drive still had the system reserve for both on there so it was like showing i had 4 drives and i don't like that.

If someone can help me please

Thank u

I I'm currently running Windows 8.1 x64 now

Also was running iReboot & EasyBCD on my Windows 8 x64 on just one HDD

EasyBCD booting to wrong partition

I set up EasyBCD 2.2 to multi boot Windows Vista, Ubuntu and Debian. All of the operating systems are in separate partitions on my C: drive. Windows is in partition 1, Ubuntu is in partition 2 and Debain is in partition 4 (partitions 3 and 5 are swap). In setting up the boots through EasyBCD I pointed to the correct partition for each OS, using Grub2 for the Linux installs.

Booting to Windows and Ubuntu work fine. The problem is that when I attempt to boot into Debian, it instead boots into Ubuntu. I have created and re-created the entries and no matter what, when I choose Debian, I get booted into Ubuntu.

My guess is that AutoNeoGrub1.mbr (the Debian entry) is pointing to Ubuntu, but I can't be sure since I cannot edit the file.

Here is a display from View Settings in EasyBCD:
