Machine: Dell Inspiron 14R 5437
Pre-installed OS: Windows 8
Dual boot: Linux Mint Xfce 17
EasyBCD version: 2.2
Error: file \bcd status 0xc0000098
How it happened:
- Machine restored to factory setting.
- Grub corrupted. Machine direct boot to Windows loader. Need to boot UEFI to boot into Mint.
- EasyBCD installed; BCD reseted but forgot to add new entry.
- Error as above.
- Linux partition missing. Have to reinstall Linux or else my laptop become unusable.
Workaround:
- Rebuilding BCD fail from Gandalf's Win8PE. The requested system device cannot be found.
- Reinstall BCD from Gandalf's Win8PE, reset, restore backup, add new, they all fail.
- I don't have recovery disk or disc either for Dell or Windows 8.
Badly need to boot back to Windows 8 ASAP for some task. Thank you.
P.s: From my search, no else got similar problem. I'm dumb maybe? Sigh...
